February 2016

Went to hospital last week
and was told my HCG levels at 2 - 3 weeks pregnant were quite high, (they came in at 2282m/ul) I'm now being scanned in two weeks to check for a multiple birth!!!!
Just wondering is there any other mums to be on here who know what there HCG levels were at round about the same time so i can compare them or if any of you know a good site that explains the HCG in people terms rather then medical terms.

What's the correct calculation?
It varies for each pregnancy. Are you speaking of three weeks past your menstrual period or three weeks gestation? Most people don't know they are pregnant at three weeks because the the fertilized egg has just implanted or about to implant. You ovulate on week two, implant on week three. You would just be starting to secrete hcg and probibly not 2282. However, at four or five weeks pregnant (2-3 weeks gestation) 2282 is still normal for singleton

According to the HCG level chartLevel of HCG hormone for single should lies between 5 and 50 mIU/mL during the week three with a mean value of 42.
Also it is allowed to show increased HCG levels for single pregnancy up to few thousands.

My advice is not to be so concerned about the level of your hcg but with the doubling times (48-72 hours). On a side note, higher hcg levels are attributed with having twins

Another useful doubling scale for twins is to calculate doubling by yourself, if doubling in 3 weeks exceeds the 60% it should suggests multiples pregnancy.

Detailed three weeks chart of average HcG levels.

Here are a list of normal ranges based on the first day of your last menstrual period (considered your first day of pregnancy too)
Measuring unit: mIU/ML or IU/L
7 days - 2 weeks 0 to 5
14 days - 28 days 3 to 426
21 days - 35 days 18 to 7,340
28 days - 42 days 1080 to 56,500
35 - 42 days 49 - 56 days 7,650 to 229,000
43 - 64 days 57 - 78 days 25,700 to 288,000
57 - 78 days 79 - 100 days 13,300 to 253,000
17 - 24 weeks 2nd trimester 4060 to 65,400
25 wks to term 3rd trimester 3640 to 117,000
After several days postpartum nonpregnant levels (<5)"

Example case study of hcg level for twins at three weeks:At 2 weeks, 2 days (or 4 weeks, 2 days since last menstrual period) my hcg was 927.
At 3 weeks, 2 days (or 5 weeks, 2 days since last menstrual period) my hcg was 17,220.
I am pregnant with twins.

The only study I have come across said (if I remember correctly) that if at 16dpo (2 weeks, 2 days) your hcg is 600 or more, that is correlated with multiples. Just correlated, not definitive. You can have twins with a lower hcg level and you can have a singleton with higher hcg levels, but you are more likely to have twins if your hcg was 600 or higher at 16dpo.

The Nurse practitioner said that makes me 4 weeks. But im closer to 5? I am going to have a repeat in 48 hours to make sure it has doubled.

I'm only having my HCG tested as Ive had 3 very early miscarraiges.. my HCG only got to 42 in the last miscarraige.

Does it sound normal? Just to put my mind at ease a little Thanks

The solution:
hcg 4 weeks 345Be reassured that while HCG hormone doubling is an average that is not correct for every woman, HCG level should rise by at least 60% in 48 hours.
A woman B-HCG level at 4w 1d was 109.8 and at 4w 3d it rose to 190 but when rechecked at 5w 4d and hcg level had risen to 5,257.
HCG values usually start to peak after the week 5.

I recommend such women
Ask your Dr. to test your progesterone level,
Schedule you for an early scan at 7 weeks.
Just keep unstressed and get to know that:
Expecting your levels to exactly double can just worry you unnecessarily.

hey everyone. i am 19 years old
and found out i had miscarried on april 1st of this year.
i was almost 11 weeks along. i had a d&c on April 7th because he wouldn't come out on his own and having my dead baby inside of me was more difficult than breathing under water...

the whole time i knew i was pregnant i was wishing that it would go away, then when my baby died i wanted to die with him. michael's (yes, naming him helped me heal) dad
and i want to try again and i just spoke with my doctor who told me my HcG levels were at 3 as of April 29th. does this mean i can physically get pregnant again? even though my 1st period hasn't started yet i mean..? i am only asking if it is an average possibility, i already know and fully understand the safety issues, especially considering my d&c. thanks for your help.

The Solution:
After D & C you must wait 3 period cycles to heal your uterine.
The First period after d & c expected to be late and with possible positive pregnancy test falsely.
woman may think that the first period is another miscarriage but the fact is that the period following miscarriage is the end of it.

Recommendation:
Maintain a healthy lifestyle by good eating, sleeping, having regular sex, taking folic acid pills, as well as avoiding stress and thinking about that miscarriage or repeating it in the future.
Follow up by hormonal screening until the blood test results come with a good signs to start another pregnancy.

I had a miscarriage about 8 weeks ago. I had a feeling and took a pregnancy test today. It was positive.
Is it possible that the test was just detecting left-over pregnancy hormones?

Beta sub unit human chorionic gonadotropin Hormone is the main hormone used for detecting the starting of a pregnancy, however B-HCG hormone is declined very fast after abortion, as its level elevating very fast in normal pregnancy, in miscarriage due to any reason; the HCG level stop forcefully and immediately as the placenta fails.

From that fact: After 8 weeks if you got a positive pregnancy test it should be represent a real pregnancy not a remnant of old aborted pregnancy.
